Reasons for Transfer?
Following the merger, in 2005, of Resolution Life Group Limited and Britannic Group plc to form Resolution plc, we transferred the life insurance businesses of the following six companies into Phoenix Life Limited, an existing Resolution company:

Alba Life Limited
Britannic Assurance plc
Britannic Retirement Solutions Limited
Britannic Unit Linked Assurance Limited
Century Life plc
Phoenix Life & Pensions Limited

These changes will help us work more effectively and efficiently as a business. Bringing together the businesses of several companies into one helps us use our resources, including our capital more efficiently, and we believe it will make it easier for you to deal with us in the future. The documents from our policyholder pack have been issued to all impacted policyholders and are published here. They show how we made our decisions. They are:

The Independent Expert’s report was made widely available and was also placed before the High Court. The report, as its title implies, has been written by an independent expert, whose appointment has been approved by the FSA, and whose role was to consider the likely implications of the transfer for policyholders of all the companies involved in the transfer. A summary of the report can be found in the policyholder brochure.
